Ingredients

Scale

Fruits

  • 3 Large Apples, cored and sliced
  • 3 Pears, cored and sliced
  • 2 Cups Grapes
  • 1½ Cups Fresh Cranberries
  • ½ Lemon, juiced
  • 1 Orange, juiced
  • ½ Tbsp Orange Zest

Spices & Nuts

  • 1 Tsp Ground Cinnamon (plus extra for topping)
  • ¼ Tsp Ground Nutmeg
  • ½ cup Pecans

Sweeteners & Oils

  • ⅓ Cup Maple Syrup
  • 2 Tbsp Coconut Oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) and grease a baking dish lightly with coconut oil to prevent sticking.
  2. Toss Fruits with Spices and Lemon: In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples and pears. Add the lemon juice, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir thoroughly with a wooden spoon to coat the fruit pieces evenly. The lemon juice brightens the flavor and helps to prevent the fruit from browning.
  3. Add Remaining Fruits and Nuts: Transfer the spiced apples and pears to the prepared baking dish. Evenly distribute grapes, pecans, and fresh cranberries on top.
  4. Make and Pour Dressing: In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the fresh orange juice, maple syrup, and coconut oil until fully combined. Pour this mixture over the fruits in the baking dish and toss gently to combine all flavors well.
  5. Bake the Fruit: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 1 hour. This slow baking process softens the fruit and enhances the meld of spices and sweetness.
  6. Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and allow the fruit bake to cool slightly at room temperature. Before serving, sprinkle additional cinnamon on top if desired. Serve warm for best flavor and enjoy your spiced fruit dessert.

Notes

  • You can use any variety of apples and pears you prefer; firmer apples like Granny Smith hold their shape well.
  • This dessert can be served as is or topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or Greek yogurt for extra indulgence.
  • For a nut-free version, omit the pecans or substitute with seeds such as pumpkin or sunflower seeds.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated gently before serving.
  • If you prefer a sweeter dish, increase the maple syrup by an additional 1-2 tablespoons.
