Main Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 pound fresh shrimp (peeled and deveined)
- Salt and pepper (to season)
- 3–4 stalks celery (chopped)
- Juice of 1 lemon
- Handful of freshly chopped chives
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 4 brioche hot dog buns
- Optional: paprika for garnish
- Cook Shrimp: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp, seasoning them with salt and pepper. Cook for about 2 minutes on one side until pink and then flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes until fully opaque and no translucency remains. Avoid overcooking to keep shrimp tender.
- Chill Shrimp: Using a slotted spoon, transfer the cooked shrimp to a large bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 20-30 minutes to cool thoroughly.
- Prepare Filling: Once shrimp are cooled, roughly chop them if desired and add celery, lemon juice, chopped chives, and mayonnaise. Stir gently to combine and coat everything evenly. Adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper to taste.
- Assemble Rolls: Spoon the shrimp mixture into brioche hot dog buns. For extra flavor and color, sprinkle paprika and garnish with additional chopped chives if preferred. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Do not overcook shrimp, as it will become tough and rubbery.
- Chilling the shrimp after cooking helps develop flavors and makes the filling refreshing.
- Use fresh lemon juice for brightness in the filling.
- Brioche buns add a rich, slightly sweet complement to the savory shrimp filling.
- Optional paprika adds a nice color contrast and mild smoky flavor.
