A hearty and creamy Sausage and Cabbage Alfredo combining spicy Andouille sausage with tender cabbage in a rich, cheesy Alfredo sauce, flavored with Cajun seasoning for a flavorful and comforting one-pan meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 14 ounces Andouille sausage, sliced
  • 6 tbsp Butter, divided (2 tbsp and 4 tbsp)
  • 1/2 Onion, chopped
  • 3 tsp Cajun Seasoning
  • 5 cups Chopped Cabbage
  • 1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil: Warm 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat to prepare for browning the sausage.
  2. Sear the sausage: Add the sliced Andouille sausage and cook until browned on all sides. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Add butter and sauté onions: Lower the heat to medium and add 2 tablespoons of butter to the skillet. Stir in the chopped onions and sauté until they become soft and translucent.
  4. Add remaining butter and cabbage: Add the remaining 4 tablespoons of butter to the skillet, then add the chopped cabbage.
  5. Season the cabbage: Sprinkle 3 teaspoons of Cajun seasoning over the cabbage mixture and stir well to evenly coat the vegetables with the spices.
  6. Add cream and simmer: Pour in 1 cup of heavy whipping cream and stir to combine. Cover the skillet and let it simmer until the cabbage starts to soften, about 8-10 minutes.
  7. Incorporate Parmesan cheese: Remove the lid and stir in 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese. Continue to simmer the mixture until the sauce thickens and becomes creamy.
  8. Return the sausage and serve: Add the browned Andouille sausage back into the skillet, stir to combine, and serve hot.

Notes

  • Use freshly grated Parmesan cheese for the best flavor and creaminess.
  • Adjust Cajun seasoning to taste if you prefer a milder or spicier dish.
  • Andouille sausage can be substituted with smoked sausage or kielbasa if preferred.
  • Serve this dish as a low-carb alternative to traditional pasta Alfredo.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
