Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp Mixture

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust for spice preference)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Additional Ingredients

  • 1 ripe mango, diced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat the butter and oil. In a large skillet, warm the olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat until the butter is completely melted and the mixture is hot.
  2. Sauté garlic. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for about 1 minute, stirring frequently, until it becomes fragrant without browning.
  3. Add spices. Sprinkle in the chili powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Stir together and cook for an additional minute to allow the spices to bloom and intensify.
  4. Cook the shrimp. Place the peeled and deveined shrimp into the skillet, spreading them out. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes on one side until they begin to turn pink and opaque, then flip and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes until fully cooked through.
  5. Add mango and butter. Stir in the ripe diced mango along with the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Continue cooking for 2 more minutes allowing the mango to soften slightly and the flavors to meld.
  6. Finish with lime juice. Remove the skillet from heat and drizzle the fresh lime juice over the shrimp and mango mixture. Toss gently to combine all flavors.
  7. Serve and garnish. Plate the shrimp immediately and garnish with fresh chopped cilantro for a bright, herbal finish.

Notes

  • Adjust the cayenne pepper to control the spiciness level according to your preference.
  • Use fresh lime juice for the best flavor; bottled lime juice can be substituted but may lessen brightness.
  • Serve this dish over steamed rice, quinoa, or a fresh green salad for a complete meal.
  • If mango is out of season, canned mango chunks drained well may be used as a substitute in a pinch.
  • Ensure shrimp is peeled and deveined for better texture and eating experience.
