Ingredients

Scale

Slider Base

  • 1 package (12-count) Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 1 pound sliced cooked turkey breast (lunch meat or leftovers)
  • 6 slices cooked turkey bacon or beef bacon (optional but recommended)

Cheese Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (1 reserved for brushing tops)
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups shredded sharp white cheddar cheese

Garnish

  • Fresh chopped parsley (optional)
  • Pinch of garlic powder (optional, for butter brush)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prep: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easier cleanup.
  2. Make the Cheese Sauce: In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute to eliminate the raw flour taste. Slowly whisk in the milk and cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens, about 3 to 4 minutes. Stir in the Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and Parmesan cheese until smooth, then remove from heat.
  3. Assemble the Sliders: Slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally in half, keeping them connected. Place the bottom half in the baking dish. Layer the sliced turkey evenly over the bread, sprinkle the crumbled cooked bacon atop (if using), then pour the warm cheese sauce evenly over the meat. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the sauce. Place the top halves of the rolls over the cheese layer.
  4. Butter the Tops: Brush the tops of the rolls with the remaining melted butter. For added flavor, you can mix in a pinch of garlic powder or sprinkle some chopped parsley onto the butter before brushing.
  5. Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake an additional 5 to 7 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the cheese has fully melted.
  6. Serve: Allow the sliders to cool for 5 minutes to let everything set. Cut into individual sliders and serve warm for the best melty cheesy experience.

Notes

  • Use turkey bacon for a classic flavor or beef bacon for a richer taste; both are optional but recommended.
  • You can prepare the cheese sauce ahead of time and reheat gently before assembling.
  • If preferred, substitute sharp white cheddar with smoked cheddar for a smoky twist.
  • These sliders can be doubled easily to feed larger groups.
  • For an extra touch, garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
  • Keep sliders warm in the oven at low heat if serving later.
