Ingredients

Scale

Base Layers

  • 2 cans of refrigerated crescent rolls

Meats & Cheese

  • 1/2 pound sliced ham
  • 1/2 pound sliced salami
  • 1/2 pound sliced provolone cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni

Vegetables & Seasonings

  • 1/2 cup banana pepper rings, drained
  • 1/2 cup roasted red peppers, drained and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

Toppings & Garnish

  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Optional: lettuce and tomato slices for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
  2. Layer Base: Unroll one can of crescent roll dough and firmly press it into the bottom of the greased baking dish, making sure to seal all the seams for an even crust.
  3. Add Fillings: Evenly layer the sliced ham, salami, provolone cheese, pepperoni, banana pepper rings, and roasted red peppers over the dough base to create a hearty filling.
  4. Season & Top: Sprinkle the Italian seasoning and grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the layered fillings, then drizzle the olive oil on top to add richness and flavor.
  5. Top Crust: Unroll the second can of crescent roll dough and carefully place it over the top of the fillings. Seal the edges by pressing the top dough firmly with the bottom layer to encase the fillings completely.
  6. Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until the crescent dough is puffed up and golden brown.
  7. Serve: Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly to set. Optionally, garnish with fresh lettuce and tomato slices before slicing.
  8. Enjoy: Slice into squares and serve warm for a comforting and flavorful Italian-inspired casserole.

Notes

  • Make sure to drain the peppers well to avoid excess moisture that could make the crust soggy.
  • Sealing the seams of the crescent dough on the bottom and top layers helps keep the fillings from leaking out during baking.
  • For a spicier kick, add some crushed red pepper flakes to the seasoning.
  • This dish can be prepared ahead of time and refrigerated before baking; just add a few extra minutes to the baking time if baking chilled.
  • Optional garnishes like fresh lettuce and tomato provide a fresh contrast to the rich baked sandwich.
